This is a tremendous resource for teachers. NCSS DataBank is the place
to find the latest listings of resources and development opportunities
for social studies educators. You will find Professional Development
Opportunities; Classroom Resources; Career Center; Legislative Update;
What's New in the NCSS DataBank section; Upcoming Events; polling
section that helps NCSS plan new programs; and links to significant
social studies websites. An example of an item listing on this week's
homepage is "Teachable Moments: September 11" where articles
and resources are available for teaching about the tragic events of
September 11th.
National
Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)

The NCTM was founded in 1920 and is the world's largest mathematics
education organization. This website offers publications and resources,
professional development information, grants and awards, and legislative
and policy leadership. Many resources are available to member only
and others are free.
National
Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) http://www.ncte.org/
NCTE provides a forum for the profession to improve the teaching and
learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education.
This site also provides a wealth of teaching resources and has a new
program call CoLEARN (Centers of Literacy Education Achievement, Research,
and Networking). CoLEARN is a school-based professional development
program devoted to raising student achievement in reading, writing,
and the English language arts. Teachers can review this program for
free through September. Just go to the website home page where you
will find the appropriate user name and password for your teaching
level.

Science Teachers Association (NSTA)

The NSTA, founded in 1944 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia,
is the largest organization in the world committed to promoting excellence
and innovation in science teaching and learning for all. This site
offers professional development information, awards and grants, and
teaching resources.
